Successfully established by The
Campaign for Museums and mda and launched in May 1999,
the 24 Hour Museum continues to flourish as a leading
cultural website.
As part of the continuing support provided
by the Department for Culture Media and Sport, it was
agreed to establish the 24 Hour Museum as a separate
charitable organisation with its own director and supporting
staff. Additional funds which made this possible were
announced in July 2000. The constitutional and legal
process which was finally completed on 5 March 2001
when the 24 Hour Museum achieved its charitable status.Loyd
Grossman, Chairman of The Campaign for Museums, continues
as Chairman of the 24 Hour Museum.
