The 2003 Awards for the best Museums in the Classroom

The Second World War, the Aztecs and the Egyptians as well as natural history provided inspiration for the winning entries in the 2003 Museum in the Classroom Awards. Eleven schools around the country received an award of £250 each towards a school trip to a museum for their Museums in the Classroom projects. Primary schools from as far apart as Berwick upon Tweed and Wedmore in Somerset took part.

The award-winning schools were congratulated by Charles Saumarez Smith, Director of the National Gallery, and Co-Chairman of Museums and Galleries Month, who chaired the judging panel. "The entries were all extremely inspiring and showed a great deal of creativity in their presentation and also in the involvement of the children in the projects. We have decided to commend three of the eleven schools whose entries were exceptional."
