Up to ten awards of £250 each will be made to primary schools towards the cost of a museum/gallery visit of your choice.

The winners will be announced in early May during Museums and Galleries Month 2003 to enable you to arrange your visit before the end of term. The entries will be judged by the Museums and Galleries Month Working Group chaired by Loyd Grossman, Chairman of The Campaign for Museums and Charles Saumarez Smith, Director of the National Gallery.

How to Enter

Please download, complete and return the entry form by post, together with a minimum of 6 photographs and other illustrations, as appropriate, illustrating your Museum in the Classroom to The Campaign for Museums.

1. The form and supporting material including photographs must be received at the offices of The Campaign for Museums not later than 31 March 2003.

2.The photographs can be Polaroid photographs or standard colour prints, and each one should be clearly labelled on the reverse. Please note that they will not be returned unless a stamped addressed hardback envelope is provided for their return.

3.The children’s description(s) may include drawings and paintings of the museum. Again these will not be returned unless a stamped addressed envelope is provided.

4. Please make sure that your entry form is authorised by a head teacher.

5.The judging will be carried out by the members of the Museums and Galleries Month Working Group; the judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

6.Up to ten awards of £250 will be made; to be used for a visit to a museum, gallery or science including the cost of a coach, refreshments and guided tour if appropriate for the class involved - up to 45 pupils.

7.The awards will be announced during Museums and Galleries Month 2003, 1 May - 2 June 2003 and the prize winners will be expected to take up the award during the Summer term.

8.Prize winners will feature on this website www.campaignformuseums.org.uk as well as on the MGM website at www.may2004.org.uk
